Alcuin, an NCSU Libraries guide

This HyperCard/MicroPhone combination was the beginings of an expert system design to help users of the NCSU Libraries facilitate their learning, teaching, and scholarlship.

The goals of this system arae to help you identify, locate, and retrieve information from the resources of the NCSU Libraries. These goals are accomplished through a 7-step process:

  1. Learn about the Libraries facilities and services
  2. Define and narrow your information need
  3. Search the Libraries catalogs and indexes for information resources
  4. Retrieve the materials
  5. Analyze the results
  6. If necessary, repeat steps 2-5
  7. Stop
