ALA 1995 Annual Conference: A Mini-Travel Log

I had the opportunity to go to the American Library Association 1995 Annual Meeting June 24-26 in Chicago, IL. That Saturday I "hoofed" it down to McCormick Place from my hotel. It was rather long walk, but on the way I pasted through the park and briefly experienced "The Taste" (The Taste of Chicago).

In the exhibit area I got familiar with the booth sponsored by Apple Compter because I was going to hawk my book Teaching a New Dog Old Tricks there the next day.

On Sunday I gave a presentation entitled " Macintosh-based WWW Browsers and Friends ". The presentation listed the strengths and weaknesses of various Macintosh-based WWW browsers and helper applications. It also allued to the possibilities of extending Macintosh-based browsers through AppleEvents and AppleScripts.

As I was leaving the conference on Sunday I went downstairs where ALA had set up their headquarters. There I saw a "sign of the times", specifically, a group of untouched typerwriters anxiously awaiting to be used. It was funny.
