Marsh, 1858. 1 online resource. still image sti rdacontent computer c rdamedia online resource cr rdacarrier Title devised, in English, by Library staff. "Digital catalog number: POS 114"--Note extracted from World Digital Library. Original resource extent: 1 print : lithograph ; 32 x 23 centimeters. This print is a cover for the sheet music of "Chestnut Street Schottisch," published around 1858 by the firm of J. Marsh. The print features a street scene in front of a three-story building located at 1009--1011 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. The building has signage for "Wm. D. Rogers' Carriage Repository" and the "Young Mens Christian Association Rooms." Outside the ground floor, customers are seen entering the building, looking at wagons on display in the Rogers show room, and looking at a display window lined with prints and containing a guitar. Individuals walk and greet each other on the sidewalk. In the street are a "Chestnut Street" omnibus, a horse-drawn carriage, and a man on horseback. Several couples and a woman and her female companion cross the street. The print also shows an adjacent residence and a walled courtyard of trees. William D. Rogers established his carriage-building business in 1846 and opened his Chestnut Street repository in 1857. Original resource at: The Library Company of Philadelphia. Content in English.
